Ingredients
- Tamarind - small lemon size
- Onion -1 chopped
- Small onion - 10
- Garlic - 6
- Fresh Mochai -1/2 cup
- Brinjal – 2 slit
- Tomato -1
- Turmeric Powder -1/4 tsp
- Chilli Powder -2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
- Sesame Oil - 3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli -1
- Curry leaves few
- Salt needed
To grind
- Fennel seed - 1 tsp
- Jeera - 1 tsp
- Grated Coconut -3 tbsp
- Poppy seed - 2 tsp
- Garlic - 3
Preparation
- Pressure cook mochai by adding water and salt. Allow 3 whistle and Keep aside.
- Grind all the grinding ingredients mentioned above. Smooth paste.
- Soak the 1 cup water and extract the juice.
- Now heat the pan with oil, add mustard after split, add fenugreek, red chilli, curry leaves, onion, garlic and asafoetida. Saute for 2mins.
- Now add cooked mochai, brinjal and tomato. Cook till tomato turns pulp and add the tamarind juice, allow to boil for 2 mins.
- Now add the grounded paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Adjust the consistency by adding water. Cover and cook in medium flame, until raw smell go off.
- Ready to serve Mochai Kottai brinjal Kara Kuzhambu Recipe with rice, chappathi, idly and dosai.
