Ingredients
- Rice -1 cup
- Tur dal- 4 tbsp
- Moong dal – 1 tbsp
- Onion -1 chopped length wise
- Green chilli -2 slit
- Garlic -6 cloves
- Tomato -1 chopped
- Turmeric powder - a pinch
- Sambar powder -1 tsp
- Oil -3 tsp
- Ghee - 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds -1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Hing - a pinch
- Curry leaves - few
- Coriander leaves -2 tbsp
- Salt
Preparation
- Wash and soak rice & dal for 15 minutes. (Mix together)
- Drain the water and keep it aside.
- Heat the pan with oil, add mustard seeds after splits, add cumin seeds, hing and curry leaves, saute for few sec and add onion, garlic, green chilli and tomatoes. Saute for 3 sec.
- Now add turmeric powder, sambar powder and mix well.
- Now add required amount of water. (As usual for your normal white rice)
- While water starts boil add the rice and dal, add the required amount of salt.
- Taste the mixture for salt. Now close the Pressure cooker allow for 3 whistles.
- Once the pressure decreases, open the cooker and mix with ghee and coriander leaves.
- Ready to serve South Indian Samayal Paruppu Arisi Sadam with pickle, potato fry or applam.
