Thakkali Sadam - Tomato Rice Recipe

Ingredients:
  • Tomato ripe chopped- 3
  • Cooked Rice – 1 cup
  • Green chillies – 2  
  • Turmeric powder
  • Onion chopped – 1 big
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Fennel seeds -1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -1 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder – 1tbsp (according to your taste)
  • Asafoetida Powder - a pinch
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Ginger (small piece) & garlic (4) – crushed
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves few
Preparation:
  • Heat the pan with oil, add mustard, fennel seeds, ginger &garlic, asafoetida, and curry leaves, green chillies, fry few secs and then add onion saute till colour change.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes and salt, saute until pulpy and then add, turmeric powder, kashmiri red chilli powder mix well and cook until all the raw smell goes off. Reduce to low flame cook 5 mints end looks like a paste.
  • Switch off the flame and sprinkle coriander leaves.
  • Now Add the boiled rice in the tomato paste and mix well add sesame oil (optional).Mix well.
  • Serve the tasty tomato rice (thakkali sadam) serve with raitha.
