Gramathu Nattu kozhi kulambu - Chicken Kulambu

Ingredients  
  • Chicken / Nattu kozhi - 1/2 kg
  • Shallots – 20 - 25
  • Big Onion - 1
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tblsp
  • Fennel seed – 1 tsp
  • Poppy seed - 1 tsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Pepper - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli – 5 -6 (adjust according to your spicy taste)
  • Chicken masala powder - 1 tblsp (optional) (available in shops)
  • Turmeric - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves few
  • Coriander leaves few
  • Coconut half
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 3 tblsp
  • Salt as required
Preparation

  • Clean the chicken and keep aside.
  • Heat the pan with 1 tsp oil, add jeera, pepper, chilli, fennel seed and onions saute well
  • Now add the coriander powder and chicken masala powder and mix well.
  • Off the flame and allow to cool and grind the mixture fine paste.
  • Then grind coconut and poppy seed separately.
  •  Heat the pan with oil, add mustard, chopped onions and curry leaves. Saute till onion color change.
  • Now add the ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.
  • Add chicken/nattu kozhi, turmeric, salt and mix well.
  • Close the pan and cook for 3-4mins.
  • Now add masala paste and mix well.
  • Add some water and allow to boil in medium flame till the chicken cooks well.
  • Finally add the grounded coconut paste and mix well. Allow to boil 3-4 mins.
  • Off the flame and sprinkle few coriander leaves on the top.
  • Ready to taste Gramathu Nattu kozhi kulambu - Chicken Kulambu with rice, dosa and idly.
