Ingredients
- Chicken / Nattu kozhi - 1/2 kg
- Shallots – 20 - 25
- Big Onion - 1
- Tomato - 1
- Ginger garlic paste - 2 tblsp
- Fennel seed – 1 tsp
- Poppy seed - 1 tsp
- Jeera - 1 tsp
- Pepper - 1 tsp
- Red chilli – 5 -6 (adjust according to your spicy taste)
- Chicken masala powder - 2 tblsp (available in shops)
- Turmeric - 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves few
- Coriander leaves few
- Mustard - 1 tsp
- Oil - 3 tblsp
- Salt as required
Preparation
- Clean the chicken and keep aside.
- Heat the pan with 1 tsp oil, add poppy seed, jeera, pepper, chilli, fennel seed and onions sauté well
- Now add the coriander powder and chicken masala powder and mix well.
- Off the flame and allow to cool and grind the mixture fine paste.
- Heat the pan with oil, add mustard, chopped onions, chopped tomato and curry leaves. Saute for 2 mins.
- Now add the ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.
- Add chicken/nattu kozhi, turmeric, salt and mix well.
- Close the pan and cook for 3-4mins.
- Now add masala paste and mix well.
- Add little water and allow to cook in medium flame till the chicken become soft.
- Off the flame and sprinkle coriander leaves on the top.
- Ready to taste Nattu kozhi varuval - Chicken fry with rice, dosa and idly.
